The Miyawaki Method
We use the Miyawaki method, a technique developed by Japanese botanist Akira Miyawaki, to create dense, native forests in urban areas. This approach allows us to grow forests that are 30 times denser, 10 times faster growing, and 100 times more biodiverse than conventional plantations.

IRIDM Urban Forest Initiative
At IRIDM, Bangalore, a remarkable milestone was achieved through the Miyawaki method, where 22,000 saplings were planted to create a dense urban forest.
The Miyawaki method is a powerful way to restore biodiversity and combat environmental challenges in urban areas. This initiative wouldn’t have been possible without the collective effort of multiple corporates who joined hands to support this cause. Their commitment to sustainability has helped lay the foundation for a greener future.
These saplings will grow into a self-sustaining ecosystem, improving air quality, reducing heat, and providing a habitat for countless species. The impact of this effort will be felt for generations, reminding us of the difference we can make when we work together for the environment.
- 22,000 saplings planted using the Miyawaki method
- Collaborative effort by multiple corporates
- Future-ready ecosystem supporting biodiversity
- Improved air quality and reduced urban heat

Bingipura, Bengaluru
By: Aristo | Date: February 18, 2023 | Saplings: 2000 | Volunteers: 49
SayTrees created a Miyawaki Forest at Bingipura, Bengaluru with support from KBros Aristo. 2000 saplings were planted to create this forest. These saplings will grow 10 times faster and the area will be 30 times more dense.
- 2000 saplings planted using the Miyawaki method
- 10x faster growth and 30x denser green cover
- Supported by KBros Aristo and 49 dedicated volunteers
- 2 years of maintenance before self-sustainability
