Agroforestry Systems We Implement
We implement various agroforestry systems tailored to local conditions and farmer needs, each designed to maximize environmental and economic benefits.

Multi-layer Cropping
Cultivating fruit, timber, and native trees in layered formations to optimize land use, restore ecosystems, and diversify farm output.
- Increased yield per unit area
- Enhanced biodiversity and pest control
- Improved microclimates and moisture retention
- Diversified and resilient income sources

Regenerative Agriculture
Using composting, natural inputs, and water-efficient practices to restore degraded soils and promote sustainable farming.
- Restored soil health and fertility
- Reduced chemical dependency
- Improved groundwater recharge
- Increased climate resilience

Farmer Transition Journey
A support model that guides farmers through sustainable practices with training, inputs, and continuous monitoring for long-term success.
- Structured 2-year support with inputs and training
- 150% increase in annual income
- Reduced migration through improved livelihoods
- Monitored reduction in chemical usage

Success Stories
Real stories of transformation from farmers who have adopted our agroforestry practices.

Ecological Restoration in Sadahalli, Bangalore
On 11th August 2021, in Sadahalli village, Devanahalli Taluka, Bangalore, SayTrees launched a transformative afforestation project—uniting science and community action to combat climate challenges.
Today, the site flourishes with 5,700 native trees, selected meticulously to match the region's soil profile, microclimate, and biodiversity needs. A multi-layered planting strategy—featuring shrubs, sub-trees, canopy, and emergent species—has turned this once underutilized land into a thriving ecological haven.
The project has significantly boosted carbon sequestration, enhanced soil permeability, and contributed to groundwater recharge. Moreover, it has created a safe habitat for pollinators and small fauna, establishing a local microclimate that regulates temperature and filters air in this peri-urban zone.
This initiative goes beyond plantation—it is a climate solution rooted in science, stewardship, and sustainable community engagement.

Empowering Tribal Communities in Maharashtra
Our agroforestry initiatives with tribal communities in Palghar district have created sustainable livelihoods while preserving traditional knowledge. By integrating fruit trees with traditional crops, these communities have enhanced their food security and income stability.
The project has especially benefited women farmers, who now lead many of the agroforestry activities. With training in nursery management, grafting techniques, and marketing, these women have become champions of sustainable agriculture in their communities.
Across Maharashtra's farming regions—including Satara, Amravati, Beed, Buldhana, Sambhajinagar, and Palghar—this transformation is gaining momentum. From 2022 to 2024, over 3,200 farmers have joined hands to plant more than 380,000 saplings through SayTrees' one-day agroforestry program:
- 2022: 163 farmers planted 14,940 saplings
- 2023: 899 farmers planted 73,458 saplings
- 2024: 2,200+ farmers planted 291,549+ saplings
This growing movement blends sustainability with profitability—empowering farmers to build climate-resilient, self-sustaining agricultural ecosystems, one sapling at a time.
